MRAGC Outdoor Range
Rules
THINK AND ACT SAFELY AT ALL TIMES!!!
1. The Outdoor Ranges are provided for the use of Club Members. Club members
are encouraged to bring family members and guests to enjoy shooting sports with
the understanding that they are responsible for their guests. To
become a Range Officer you Must attend any regular R&P Committee Meeting held on
the third Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the Member’s Lounge.
2. Range Duty is NOT assigned for any of the R&P Ranges. Only R&P Committee
Approved Range Officers will be allowed to open the ranges. Members wishing to
use the indoor pistol or outdoor rifle and pistol ranges may do so only if an
R&P Committee Range Officer has opened the range and is present. When the R&P
Committee approved Range Officer leaves, all Non-Range Officer Members must
leave as well.

Eye and Ear protection is required for all Range users and strongly recommended
for spectators. Tissue paper is not allowed as ear protection.

Absolutely no alcohol or drug usage is allowed in or near the Ranges during
shooting activities. No person will be allowed to shoot if it is suspected that
they have used alcohol or drugs prior to shooting.
5.
Firearms will be brought onto the range unloaded, open, and magazines removed,
if applicable.

All shooting will be done by the general Club membership during the hours posted
on the clubroom bulletin board with exceptions made for other outdoor activities
such as Pavilion and ground rentals, fishing derby, etc.

R&P Committee approved Range Officers are allowed to use the ranges during
normal daylight hours (10 AM – Dusk) with the exceptions noted above.

The Ranges are officially opened when an R&P Committee approved Range Officer
raises the
red flag
and makes an entry in the Range Log. Range Officers should wear their RO
badges.
9.
The Range Log will be filled out by all range users in all
columns including license/permit data. Guests without license/permit data should
leave that column blank.
10. An R&P Committee approved Range Officer will authorize time for shooters to
go downrange to post or retrieve targets, pick up spent shells, etc. During
this time, all firearms will be placed on the provided benches open, unloaded,
with magazines removed, if applicable. Handling of firearms with people
downrange is strictly forbidden.
11. All shooting will be performed within the designated firing lines and cross
shooting of targets is Prohibited.
12. An R&P Committee approved Range Officer will authorize when it is allowed
to shoot. When a Cease Fire is ordered, all firearms will be benched and made
safe immediately.
13. Unless authorized by the R&P Committee, all targets will be paper only.
Targets will be hung in such a way that the bullet or shot will impact the area
inside the downrange bunker for the Rifle Range. Pistol Target holders will
define Pistol Range impact areas, and will hang a minimum of 12 inches below the
target holder cable. All targets will be hung on provided target holders.
14. No rapid fire is allowed. Rapid fire is defined as anything faster than 5
shots in 10 seconds. Synchronized style shooting is Prohibited.
15. Shooters are responsible for their own firearms, ammunition, targets,
target hanging materials and safety equipment.
16. Shooters are responsible for the disposal of their targets, empty casings
or any other items brought to the range.
NOTE: The Outdoor
Range can be opened from 10 am – dusk, as long as there is Safe available light.
The Range is Closed during Outdoor functions, like Pavilion/Grounds rental, the
Trout Derby, etc. The Ranges are Closed on Easter Sunday & Mother’s Day.

IMPORTANT:
Before coming to the club to use one of the ranges, please call the Member’s
Lounge at 978-897-9873
during Lounge Operation hours (and check the Club Event/Function Calendars
online) to make sure there are no functions going on or planned
so you can open the range you wish to use.
