MRAGC Indoor Range Rules

THINK AND ACT SAFELY AT ALL TIMES!!!

1.  Only a Rifle & Pistol Committee Approved Range Officer may open the range from 10 AM - 9 PM on weekdays and weekends.  Range Key Card Access is available during those hours.  Range Key Cards are issued by the R&P Committee to Range Officers.  To become a Range Officer you must attend any regular R&P Committee Meeting held on the third Thursday of each month at 7:00 pm in the Member’s Lounge.

2.  The range may not be available at all times due to functions in the upstairs hall, CMP shooting (Friday evenings), Pistol Team competition (Wednesday evenings) or other Club activities. It is up to the individual to call ahead (and check the Club Event/Function Calendars online) to verify range availability.  Range Officers can call 978-897-9873 during Lounge Operation hours to check for range availability ahead of time.

3.  Range Officers are allowed to bring family members or guests to the range.

4.  Absolutely no alcohol or drug use is allowed by anyone prior to or during use of any club range for shooting.

5.  All persons using the range will, after ensuring the range office and outdoor lights have been turned on, sign in the range log. The Range Log will be filled out by all range users in all columns including license/permit data. Guests without license/permit data should leave that column blank. Range Officers should wear their RO badges.

6.  The range should then be checked for cleanliness.  Range equipment such as trolleys, trolley target clips, downrange lights, shooting station lights, downrange fans and general range condition should be checked at this time.  All discrepancies are to be noted in the "Comments" section of the range log.

7.  All persons using the range will use approved eye and ear protection.

8.  Only pistols, .22 rifles or black powder rifles may be used on the range.  Absolutely no other rifles are allowed on the indoor range!!!   All firearms will enter and leave the range open, unloaded, safeties engaged and with magazines removed, if applicable.

9.  ABSOLUTELY NO JACKETED AMMUNITION is to be fired on the indoor range.  This prohibits Full Metal Jacket & Jacketed Hollow Point Ammo

Lead, Frangible, & WinClean ammunition is Allowed.

10.  Only legal paper targets may be used on this range.  All targets are to be hung using the clip provided on each shooting station's trolley, and all targets Must be positioned at 50 feet, fully downrange.  No targets are to be placed on the wood base of the backstop.

11.  The downrange green light will be turned on when it is safe to shoot.  Generally, there is no need to go downrange except for pre-inspection.  If the need does arise, the person responsible for the range is the only one allowed to do so provided that the range is made safe; e.g., all firearms are open, unloaded, and magazines removed, and shooters have stepped back from the line.

The red flashing downrange light will be turned on when anyone is downrange.

12.  All shooting will be done from the shooting stations.  Only one person is allowed to shoot per shooting station.  No cross firing is allowed.

13.  No horseplay or fooling around will be tolerated. Drawing from the holster is prohibited.

14.  All shooters will police their shooting station when finished. This includes targets, empty casings, etc. Dud cans are located in back of the shooting stations for misfired or dead ammunition.

15.  If you are the Range Officer in-charge (the RO who opened the Range), and another Range Officer wants to continue using the Range when you plan to leave, that RO will become the RO in-charge.

16.  Ensure that all lights, downrange fans and the heaters (if used) are all shut off prior to leaving the range.  Sign out time must be entered in the log. Lock the range door.

17.  Any and all violations will be reported and dealt with by the Rifle & Pistol Committee and if necessary, the E-Board.

Indoor Range Key Card Access is available from 10 am – 9 pm.  It is the member’s responsibility to check that No Indoor Function is scheduled prior to opening the range.  The Ranges are Closed on Easter Sunday & Mother’s Day.
